ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) AND (7) THE M42 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 5 TO JUNCTION 6) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

What is happening?

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M42 Motorway, in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, to enable bridge works to be carried out.

The effect of the order will be to close —
(1) the northbound carriageway of the M42 from its junction with the exit slip road at Junction 5, to its junction with the entry slip road at Junction 6;
(2) the southbound carriageway of the M42 from its junction with the exit slip road at Junction 6, to its junction with the entry slip road at Junction 5;
(3) any slip road or link road leading to or from the lengths of the M42 described in (1) and (2) above; and
(4) any emergency refuge area adjacent to the lengths of the M42 described in (1) and (2) above.

The work will be carried out overnight between 20:00 hours and 05:00 hours and is expected to start on Monday 15 September 2025 and continue for approximately five months. The Order will come into force on 8 September 2025.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority, ambulance or traffic officer purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures.

Diversion routes via the A45, Damson Parkway and the A41 Solihull Bypass and vice versa will be signed.
