Temporary Closure of Hereford Drive

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Hereford Drive - from the junction with Dorchester Road to the junction with Rochester Road. A total distance of 180 metres. This Order will enable John Luffman Trading Ltd to carry out housing development works on behalf of Woolaway Housing scheme.

The Order becomes effective on 4th September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 8th September 2025 and last until 16th January 2026 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 131 days.

Statement of Reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or

b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
