Wiltshire, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) Station Road (Part), Newton Tony: from its junction with Newton Tony for a distance of approximately 250m in a south westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out pole testing. Alternative route via Newton Toney Road – Weyhill Lane – Tidworth Road – Amesbury Road – Beechfield – Newton Tony and vice versa.

This Order will come into operation on 17 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. For further information please contact Openreach on 08000 282229.

B) C323 (Part), Grimstead; from its property known as Trinity Church for a distance of approximately 1.2km in an easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out communication equipment repairs and associated works. Alternative route via C323 (unaffected length) – C335 – Weston Lane – C289 – C323 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 19 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for day. C) Snow Hill, Dinton; from its junction with St Marys Road to its junction with B3089 to enable Wessex Internet to carry out cabling and associated works. Alternative route via B3089 – St Marys Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 15 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 03 October 2025. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

D) C61 (Part), Donhead St Andrew, Sedgehill and Semley; from its junction with C313 to its junction with C300 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out verge overruns and associated works. Alternative route via C300 – C299 – C313 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 26 August 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 07:30 and 17:00 for 5 days. E) UC 872901 (Part), East Knoyle; from its junction with Holloway Lane for a distance of approximately 920m in a westerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway surfacing and associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 26 August 2025 and the closure will start at 07:30 and will be required 24 hours a day for 3 days. F) Shoddesden Lane (Part), Ludgershall; from its junction with A342 for a distance of approximately 1275m in a south easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out civils work of laying duct. Alternative route via Tidworth Road – Andover Road – A3026 – A342 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 15 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 until 01 October 2025. Orders A) to F) will have a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all vehicles, caravans, horses, horse drawn carriages (excluding pedestrians, bicycles and motorcycles):

a) Byway 10 (Part), Durrington; from its junction with Fargo Road to its junction with Byway 12, Amesbury/A344.

b) Byway 12 (Part), Amesbury; from its junction with Byway 10, Durrington/crossing the A344 over to its junction with A303 (T).

c) Byway 12 (Part), Amesbury; from its junction with A303 (T) in a southerly direction to its junction with Byway 1, Wilsford cum Lake.

d) Byway 1 (Part), Wilsford cum Lake; from its junction with Byway 12, Amesbury to its junction with Byway 11, Berwick St James.

e) Byway 11 (Part), Berwick St James; from its junction with Byway 1, Wilsford cum Lake to its junction with Byway 16, Woodford.

f) Byway 16 (Part), Woodford; from its junction with Byway 11, Berwick St James to its junction with A360, Druids Lodge.

g) Byway 11 (Part), Amesbury; from its junction with A303 (T) in a southerly direction to its junction with Byway 2, Wilsford cum Lake.

h) Byway 2 (Part), Wilsford cum Lake; from its junction with Byway 11, Amesbury to its junction with Footpath 3 at Springbottom Farm, Wilsford cum Lake to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out repair of byways and associated maintenance works.

No alternative route is available. The closures will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

This Order which became effective on 23 August 2025 will now be extended and will remain in force until 11 September 2025 or until completion of the works whichever is earlier. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions.

**ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (A30, FIRSDOWN) (50MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025**

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council proposes to make the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to introduce a 50mph speed limit on the A30, Firsdown – from a point 430 metres southwest of its junction with C289 Firs Road to a point 450 metres north east of that junction.

Copies of the draft Order, plan and Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours.

Details of the proposed scheme may be seen Salisbury Library, Market Walk, Salisbury between the hours of 10am-7pm Monday, 9am-7pm Tuesday and Friday and 9am-5pm Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday until 15 September 2025.
