What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Stone Street, Oldbury) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure and No Right Turning Restrictions) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Stone Street which will be closed one-way in a north-westerly direction from the roundabout at the junction of Green Street to the junction with Oldbury Ringway. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Tat Bank Road, Vicarage Road, Crosswells Road, Station Road, Titford Road, Park Lane, Park Street, Churchbridge & Oldbury Ringway (eastbound). The order also intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from the police station and the Bethel Church access roads to Stone Street. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 30/09/2025 effective from 01/09/2025. Purpose – to facilitate access for gas service works by Cadent Gas Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Groveland Road, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Groveland Road from the junction of Dudley Road West to the gable of property No.15. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Tividale Road, New Birmingham Road, Lower City Road, Dudley Road East, Tipton Road, Cleton Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 03/10/2025 effective from 01/09/2025. Purpose – to facilitate access for electrical service works by Excalon on behalf of National Grid Electricity Distribution.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Newton Road, West Bromwich) (Temporary 50mph - 40mph Speed Limit Restriction) Order 2025 intends to temporarily reduce the existing 50mph existing sections of the Newton Road in both easterly and westerly directions to a 40mph speed limit. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 31/10/2025 effective from 01/09/2025 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate a safe working space to install a new duct run for a high voltage service cable by Excalon on behalf of National Grid Electricity Distribution.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Barnford Hill Close, Vicarage Road, Tudor Road & Moat Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closures, Footway Closures & Right Turn Ban) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles and pedestrians from proceeding along the below locations. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits: 1) Barnford Hill Close will have a footway closure in place from 01/09/2025 - 09/09/2025 adjacent to the boundary lines of property Nos. 21 & 20 from the junction of Barnford Hill Close to the junction of Langley Crescent. 2) Vicarage Road will have a road closure in place from 29/09/2025 - 14/10/2025 from the junction of Defford Drive to the boundary line of property No.1. In addition there will be 3-way temporary traffic signals in operation on Joinings Bank at the junction of Moat Road and Defford Drive at the junction of Moat Road for the duration of the Vicarage Road closure. 3) Moat Road will have a right turn ban in place 29/09/2025 - 14/10/2025 at the junction of Vicarage Road for the duration of the Vicarage Road closure. 4) Tudor Road will have a road closure in place from 27/10/2025 - 25/11/2025 from the junction of Defford Drive to the eastern boundary line of property No.21. 5) Tudor Road will have a footway closure in place from the 27/10/2025 - 07/11/2025 adjacent to Keats House from Tudor Road to Heritage Close. A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Vicarage Road closure via Joining’s Bank, New Henry Street, Causeway Green Road, Wolverhampton Road, Churchbridge, Park Street, Park Lane, Station Road, Crosswells Road & vice versa. A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Tudor Road closure via Matty Road, Defford Drive & vice versa. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Tudor Road, Matty Road, Brookfields Road & vice versa. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed for the Barnford Hill Close footway closure via Barnford Hill Close, Moat Road, Joinings Bank, New Henry Street, Langley Road, Westmead Drive, Langley Crescent & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work for the closure is expected to be completed by 07/11/2025 effective from 29/09/2025 (24hrs). The Borough Council of Sandwell (High Street, Cradley Heath) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along High Street, which will be closed from its junction with Cradley Road to its junction with Corngreaves Road. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Newtown Lane, Foxoak Street, St Anne’s Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 31/08/2025 (8am - 6pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for highway improvement works resurfacing works by RW Services on behalf of Sandwell MBC. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Upper High Street, Cradley Heath) (Temporary Road Closure & Right Turn Ban) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Upper High Street, which will be closed from the junction of Corngreaves Road for approximately 40 metres. A right turn ban will also be in place on Foxoak Steeet at the junction of Upper High Street for the duration of the Upper High Street closure. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Corngreaves Road, Newtown Lane & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work for the closure is expected to be completed by 13/09/2025 effective from 01/09/2025 (24hrs). Purpose – to facilitate access for highway improvement works by Bridge Construction Ltd on behalf of Sandwell MBC.
