Good Street, Tanfield Lea – Temporary Road Closure due to Carriageway Resurfacing Works

Order 2025
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road.
A 440 metre length of B6173 Good Street from and including its junction with Broomhill to Houghwell House, Tanfield Lea to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the southern side of the closure, from B6173 to Stanley then north east on A6076 and turning north west on C128, then south west on the unclassified road from Houghwell Burn junction to B6173 to the northern side of the closure and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on Saturday 6/9/2025 and anticipated to be completed in two weekends, between 7am-7pm. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
