What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(RED BULL TYNE RIDE EVENT) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 21 August 2025 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and has received consent from the Secretary of State for Transport to make such an Order.
2. The effect of the Order is to:-
(a) prohibit any vehicle from proceeding on the lengths of highway set out in Schedule 1 to this Notice;
3. The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site as required.
4. The Order is required to facilitate the holding of the Red Bull Tyne Ride Event (“the Event”), enable members of the public to watch the Event and reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event. The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the general public.
5. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles involved with the Event and where possible for police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
6. The Order will come into operation on Monday 25 August 2025 for 7 days, and will be in effect as and when the relevant traffic signs are in place - in respect of the highways set out in (i) to (v) of Schedule 1 to this Order from 22.00 Monday 25 August until 09.30 Sunday 31 August 2025, and in respect of the highways set out in (vi) to (xv) of Schedule 1 to this Order from Friday 29 August until 09.30 Sunday 31 August 2025.
