What is happening?

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

MAIDSTONE AREA

A274 North Street, Sutton Valence ME17 3EQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY 20MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow highway improvement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily restrict through traffic on part of A274 North Street, Sutton Valence, on or after 15th September 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

A274 North Street will be closed outside Haven Farm, between the hours of 22:00 and 05:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The speed limit on A274 North Street will be reduced to 20mph between the Village Hall and Haven Close. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A274 North Street, A274 Sutton Valence Hill, A274 Headcorn Road, A274 Maidstone Road, A274 Mill Bank, A274 North Street, A274 High Street, A274 Station Road, A274 Wheeler Street, A274 Biddenden Road, A274 Headcorn Road, A274 North Street, A262 Tenterden Road, A262 High Street, A262 Sissinghurst Road, A262 Biddenden Road, A262 The Street, A262 Sissinghurst Road, A229 Wilsley Pound, A229 The Common, A229 Camden Hill, A229 Rocks Hill, A229 Knoxbridge, A229 Cranbrook Road, A229 High Street, A229 Station Road, A229 Maidstone Road, A229 Staplehurst Road, A229 Linton Hill, A229 Linton Road, A229 Loose Road, A274 Sutton Road, A274 Maidstone Road, A274 North Street and vice versa.

 

B2162 Collier Street, Collier Street (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow bridge inspection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of B2162 Collier Street, Collier Street, on or after 7th September 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the railway bridge, between the hours of 01:05 and 06:35 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2162 Collier Street, B2162 Claygate, B2162 Maidstone Road, The Heath, Goudhurst Road, Ballards Hill, Summerhill, Winchet Hill, B2079 Goudhurst Road, B2079 West End, B2079 Church Green, B2079 High Street, B2079 Maidstone Road, Underlyn Lane, Green Lane, B2162 Collier Street and vice versa.

 

Boarley Lane, Sandling, ME14 3BS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow tree cutting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Boarley Lane, Sandling, on or after 4th September 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Boarley Oast. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for any through traffic. Access will be maintained when it is safe to do so. 

 

Brishing Lane, Boughton Monchelsea, ME17 4NG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow tree cutting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Brishing Lane, Boughton Monchelsea, on or after 18th September 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from property named Willow Cottage to property named The Oast. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Brishing Lane, Wallis Avenue, A274 Sutton Road, A229 Loose Road, A229 Linton Road, B2163 Heath Road, Brishing Lane and vice versa.

 

Cambridge Crescent, Maidstone, ME15 7NZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow water pipe works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Cambridge Crescent, Maidstone, on or after 15th September 2025 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Peterborough House. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for any through traffic. Access will be maintained where it is safe to do so.

 

Clapper Lane, Staplehurst, TN12 0RG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Clapper Lane, Staplehurst, on or after 3rd September 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction of A229 Maidstone Road and the junction with Grave Lane. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Clapper Lane, A229 Maidstone Road, A229 Station Road, Marden Road, Clapper Lane and vice versa.

 

East Sutton Road, Headcorn, ME17 3DY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of East Sutton Road, Headcorn, on or after 17th September 2025 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of property named Windy Ridge. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via East Sutton Road, A274 Maidstone Road, A274 Mill Bank, Kings Road, Lenham Road, Crumps Lane, Stickfast Lane and vice versa.

 

Grave Lane, Staplehurst (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Grave Lane, Staplehurst, on or after 18th September 2025 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Clapper Lane to Clarendon Barn. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Clapper Lane, A229 Maidstone Road, A229 Staplehurst Road, Summerhill Road, Grave Lane and vice versa.

 

Harp Farm Road, Boxley, ME14 3EE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Harp Farm Road, Boxley, on or after 15th September 2025 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from outside Westfield Sole, for a distance of approximately 450 metres in a South direction. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Harp Farm Road, Boxley Road, Walderslade Woods Roundabout, Westfield Sole Road, Lidsing Road, Harp Farm Road and vice versa.

 

Hunt Street & B2010 Smiths Hill, West Farleigh, ME15 0PG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on parts of Hunt Street & B2010 Smiths Hill, West Farleigh, on or after 20th September 2025 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

Hunt Street will be closed in the vicinity of the junction with B2010 Smiths Hill, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

B2010 Smiths Hill will be closed from the junction with B2163 Ewell Lane to the junction with Shingle Barn Lane, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2010 Smiths Hill, B2163 Ewell Lane, B2163 Heath Road, A229 Linton Hill, A229 Staplehurst Road, B2079 Maidstone Road, Underlyn Lane, Green Lane, B2162 Collier Street, B2162 Benover Road, B2010 High Street, B2010 Yalding Hill, B2010 Smiths Hill and vice versa.

 

Lovehurst Lane, Staplehurst, TN12 0EX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Lovehurst Lane, Staplehurst, on or after 18th September 2025 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Chittenden House. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lovehurst Lane, A229 Cranbrook Road, Pinnock Lane, Goudhurst Road, Cork Lane, Lovehurst Lane and vice versa.

 

Northumberland Road, Cumberland Avenue & Oxford Road, Maidstone, ME15 9UL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow highway maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on parts of Northumberland Road, Cumberland Avenue & Oxford Road, Maidstone, on or after 1st September 2025 for up to 16 days or until the works have been completed.

Northumberland Road will be closed from the junction with A274 Sutton Road to the junction with Willington Street, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Cumberland Avenue will be closed between the junction with Northumberland Road and the junction with Suffolk Road, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Oxford Road will be closed between the junction with Northumberland Road and the junction with Suffolk Road, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A274 Sutton Road, Willington Street and vice versa.

 

Pilgrims Way, Thurnham, ME14 3LU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow pole testing and tree cutting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Pilgrims Way, Thurnham, on or after 1st September 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Water Lane for a distance approximately 765 metres in an East direction, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pilgrims Way, Thurnham Lane, Ware Street, The Green, The Street, Roundwell, A20 Ashford Road, Eyhorne Street, Upper Street, Pilgrims Way and vice versa.

 

Rumstead Lane, Hucking (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Rumstead Lane, Hucking, on or after 17th September 2025 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed approximately 230m South West of the junction with Rumstead Road, for a distance of approximately 150 metres in a South direction. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Rumstead Road, Old Forge Lane, South Lees Lane, Admiral Road, Church Road, Hook Lane, Rumstead Lane and vice versa.

 

Spenny Lane, Collier Street (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow bridge examination works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Spenny Lane, Collier Street, on or after 7th September 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the railway bridge, between the hours of 01:05 and 06:35 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Spenny Lane, Claygate Road, Jarmons Lane, B2162 Collier Street,  B2162 Claygate, Spenny Lane and vice versa.

 

The Street, Stockbury, ME9 7UH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow fibre installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of The Street, Stockbury, on or after 1st September 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Stockbury Village Hall. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any Northbound through traffic is via Bull Lane, Cowstead Road, Lower Hartlip Road, Cradles Road, Hill Green Road and vice versa.

The alternative route for any Southbound through traffic from Hill Green Road is via South Street Road, Chalky Road, A249 Maidstone Road, Church Hill and Church Lane.

The alternative route for any southbound through traffic from Bull Lane is via Church Lane, Church Hill, A249 Maidstone Road, Stockbury Roundabout, A249 Maidstone Road, Chalky Road and South Street Road.
