Suffolk - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Proposed Vehicle Restriction Order

What is happening?

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U2408 THE GREEN, KNODISHALL

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U2408 The Green, Knodishall from 525 metres northwest of the junction with the B119 for 390 metres northbound to facilitate pole replacement and overhead cabling works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the B1119, the B1121, the A12, the B1121, Clay hills Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 21/08/2025 - 22/08/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1458 DUKE STREET FOOTWAY, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1458 Duke Street Footway, Ipswich from John Street for 35 metres north eastbound to facilitate the installation on an electrical supply. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

The diversion route will be Footpath between Duke Street and John Street, John Street and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 21/08/2025 - 28/08/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C543 CEMETERY ROAD AND U5621 MONK SOHAM ROAD, BEDFIELD

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:

• C543 Cemetery Road, Bedfield from Blacksmith Cottage for 40 metres northbound

• U5621 Monk Soham Road, Bedfield from the junction with Cemetery Road for 40 metres westbound.

This is to facilitate communication supply service. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Long Green, Tannington Road, Worlingworth Road, Dennington Road, Tannington Road, Chapel Road, the A1120, The Street, Low Road, Spring Road, Bedfield Road, School Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 21/08/2025 from 9.30am - 3.30pm. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE B1119 THE GREEN, SAXTEAD ROAD

AND MOUNT PLEASANT, SAXTEAD AND FRAMLINGHAM

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:

• B1119 The Green, Saxtead

• B1119 Saxtead Road, Framlingham

• B1119 Mount Pleasant, Framlingham.

This is to facilitate surface dressing and associated works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the B1116 the A1120 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closures will operate from:

• 21/08/2025 - 23/08/2025 from 7pm - 5am

• 19/09/2025 - 22/09/2025 from 7pm - 5am.

If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U1614 ROAD FROM THE A12 TO THE 1611, 1610 AND 1612, FROSTENDEN

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads in the following phases:

1. U1614 road from the A12 to the 1611, 1610 and 1612, Frostenden from the junction with the A12 for 310 metres eastbound

2. U1614 road from the A12 to the 1611, 1610 and 1612 from Stone Cottage for 250 metres south westbound.

This is to facilitate pole testing works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the A12, the B1127, the road from the B1127 to the 1610 and 1614 South Cove and vice versa.

It is intended that the closures will operate on:

1. 21/08/2025 from 9.30am - 3.30pm

2. 22/08/2025 from 9.30am - 3.30pm.

If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF FOOTPATH 30, MILDENHALL

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing Footpath 30, Mildenhall from the junction with Gravel Drove for 1150 metres westbound for safety reasons due to flood erosion to the footpath surface. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

The diversion route will be Gravel Drove and vice versa.

This order continues in force the emergency measures operating since 01/08/2025

It is intended that the closure will operate until 31/01/2026, (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE A1021 ORWELL ROAD AND HIGHFIELD ROAD, FELIXSTOWE

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:

• A1021 Orwell Road, Felixstowe from no. 29 to the junction with Victoria Street

• A1021 Highfield Road, Felixstowe from no. 1 to the junction with Orwell Road.

This is to facilitate fibre installation works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be available for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Hamilton Road, Bent Hill, Undercliff Road West, Garrison Lane, High Road West with no vice versa.

This order continues in force the emergency measures operating since 01/08/2025.

It is intended that the closure will operate until 07/09/2025, but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

(IPSWICH) (MORLAND ROAD) (U2046)

(PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND REVOCATION) ORDER 202–

Suffolk County Council proposes to make the above order under Sections 1(1) and (2), 2(1) to (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which would be to prohibit any motor vehicle proceeding on Morland Road (U2046) between 8.30am - 9am and 3pm - 3.35pm Monday to Friday, for a distance of 64 metres from the boundary of property numbers 143 -145 Morland Road (U2046) to a point 64 metres southwest on Morland Road (U2046) opposite property number 131, travelling in both directions.

The provisions of the Suffolk County Council (Ipswich) (Morland Road) (U2046)

(Prohibition of Motor Vehicles and Revocation) (Experimental) Order 2024 dated 07/10/2024 are hereby revoked.

Exemptions to the prohibition of motor vehicles will apply to permit residents to access their property, to allow users to access local businesses situated along the road and to enable relevant authorities to carry out maintenance of the road or its services, and to fulfil statutory duties. The restrictions do not apply to taxis bringing children with additional needs to and from school nor blue badge holders accessing the school. Exempt vehicles will be required to travel at walking pace and be accompanied by a marshal. Access will also be granted for cyclists and pedestrians.

Copies of the draft order, map showing the roads affected and the Council’s reasons for the proposals, may be seen with advance notice at the address below, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday also at Ipswich County Library, Northgate Street, Ipswich, IP1 3DE, 9am - 6pm Monday; 9am - 7pm Tuesday; 9am - 6pm Wednesday and Thursday; 9am - 7pm Friday; 8.30am - 5pm Saturday and 10am - 4pm Sunday (excluding public holidays and bank holidays).

Objections and any other representations relating to these proposals, specifying the grounds on which they are made, must reach Rhea Philip (Suffolk County Council Legal Services) at the address below or at: rhea.philip@suffolk.gov.uk no later than 11/09/2025.
