Suffolk - Introduction of 40 MPH and 30 MPH Speed Limits
What is happening?
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
(PARISHES OF SAXTEAD AND EARL SOHAM)
(VARIOUS ROADS) (40 MPH AND 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025
On the 13/08/2025 Suffolk County Council made the above named Order for the Parishes of Saxtead and Earl Soham under Section 84(1) (a) and (2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
The effect of this would be to introduce:
A 40 mph speed limit on:
• A1120 The Green, Parish of Saxtead, from its Parish Boundary with Earl Soham to its junction with Several Road.
• A1120 Several Road, Parish of Saxtead, from its Junction with The Green (A1120), travelling in a northeasterly direction, to a point 119.00 metres north of the northeastern boundary of the property known as “Treeburn”.
• A1120 Framlingham Road, Parish of Earl Soham, from a point 31.70 metres southwest of its Parish Boundary with Saxtead.
A 30 mph speed limit on:
• B1119 The Green, Parish of Saxtead, from its northern and southern junction with The Green (A1120), travelling both sides of the grassed triangle in an eastward direction for a distance of 166.00 metres.
• U2127 The Green, Parish of Saxtead, from its junction with Several Road to its junction with Marlborough Road.
• C545 Marlborough Road, Parish of Saxtead, from its junction with The Green (A1120) travelling in a north westerly and then northerly direction for a distance of 699.00 metres.
A copy of the order, which comes into effect on the 26/08/2025 may be seen with advance notice at the address below, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday; and also at Framlingham Library, The Old Court House, Bridge Street, Framlingham IP13 9AJ, Monday 9.30am - 12.30pm; Tuesday 9.30am - 5.30pm; Thursday and Friday 9.30am - 5.30pm; Saturday 9.30am - 5pm; and Sunday 11am - 3pm; excluding Bank Holidays and Public Holidays.
If anyone wishes to question the validity of the order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any of the requirements of that Act or any instrument made under it have not been complied with in relation to the Order, they may within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made apply to the High Court for this purpose.
