OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1) & (2)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Carterton, footpath between Heather Close and Bracken Close

(Footbridge 6111)

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Coming into force: 28 August 2025

This Order follows on from an emergency closure introduced 7 August for public safety due to a collapsed bridge structure being unsafe for use. The anticipated repair timescale is uncertain due to the need to consider funding against other priority works.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily Bridge No.6111 that carries the footpath over an open ditch between Heather Close and Bracken Close adjacent to Boundary Lane. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for Works and for pedestrian access to the point of closure to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of footpath. The alternative route is signed via local diversion signage. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

This order will initially run for 6 months whereafter the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport will be requested for an extension. (Ref: T16443/RAG)

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
