DIDCOT: A4130 AND B4016 LADY GROVE – PROPOSED PUFFIN CROSSINGS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council as the local highway authority under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, proposes to introduce two new Puffin Crossings (a signalised crossing for use by pedestrians) in northern Didcot to help improve pedestrian safety in respect of the new housing development at the following locations:

  • A4130 (east) – located approx. 138 metres* northwest of its junction with the B4016 Lady Grove

  • B4016 Lady Grove – located approx. 176 metres* northeast of its junction with the A4130

  • All dimensions are approximate, and where necessary are taken from the centre of the nearest junction to the centre of the specified feature.

Copies may be made available on request.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below (or via the web address above) no later than 19 September 2025. The County Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

West Hendred, East and West Ginge

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 8 September 2025

Coming into force: 15 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of excavations to install fibre cable ducting which is anticipated to be completed 30 September 2025. This is a 24 hour road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the road running Through East and West Ginge. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15948/AC)

Pishill with Stonor, Maidensgrove

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 1 September 2025

Coming into force: 10 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of excavation and fibre cabling works, which is anticipated to be completed 07 October 2025. This is a 24 hour road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in part of the un-named road running southwards off of Park Lane, from the side of Furze Bush Cottage to Lodge Farm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic will be sign posted locally.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15950/AC)

Stonor Parish, Road from Russells Water to Upper Maidensgrove

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Coming into force: 28 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of excavation to install fibre cables which are anticipated to be completed 10 September 2025. This is a 24 hour road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of the road from upper Maidensgrove skirting Russells Water Common. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15925/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Ardington, Unnamed Road off High Street

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Coming into force: 27 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of excavation for fibre cabling works which are anticipated to take until 4/9/2025 to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in part of the road running south-eastwards off High Street towards Giggers Wood. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16110/RMF)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Didcot Bridleway No.423/1/20 Closure

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Coming into force: 28 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of road construction works which are anticipated to be completed on 29 February 2026.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily Bridleway 423/1/20 from Cow Lane down from the A4130 to the A34. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for pedestrian access to property which is only accessible from the closed section of bridleway. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The alternative route for those affected by the closure is via Cow Lane and to the east of the closed bridleway.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16109/RAG)

Notice of Temporary Footpath Closure

Didcot, Footpath Cromwell Drive

Date of Order: 21 July 2025

Works commence: 25 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of LV electrical works (previously planned for 28/07/2025 to 08/08/2025).

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily the footpath between Nos. 24-28 & 25-27 Cromwell Drive from 25 August 2025 for 2 weeks. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the Works. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

The Order will remain in force for 6 months or until the works are complete whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15968/MR)

Ipsden, Unnamed Road through Hailey

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Coming into force: 26 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of excavation for fibre cabling works which are anticipated to take 10 days to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in the section of unnamed road east-west though Hailey. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. A diversion will be signed locally.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15846/MR)
