TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Tyneside Council intends to make an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road:- A1018 Sunderland Rd, Sth Shields, bus lane, southeast bound carriageway, from its junction with Grosvenor Rd, in a south easterly direction, for a distance of 140m. A1018 Sunderland
Rd, Sth Shields, bus lane, northwest bound carriageway, from its junction with Grosvenor Rd, in a south easterly direction, for a distance of 85m. A1018 Sunderland Rd, Sth Shields, bus lane, northwest bound carriageway, from its junction with Grosvenor Rd, in a north westerly direction to its junction with Wood Ter. A1018 Sunderland Rd, Sth Shields, no right turn into Grosvenor Rd. Grosvenor Rd, Sth Shields, no right turn into Sunderland Rd. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable South Tyneside Council to carry out junction improvement
works. The Order will come into force on the 4/9/25. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order will be 18 mths however it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed from 8/9/25 for 75 days. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the
duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Sunderland Rd, Westoe Roundabout, Cauldwell Roundabout & vice versa.
