Bentley Lane - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BENTLEY LANE, MAWDESLEY, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway:
i. Bentley Lane, Wrightington from its junction with Bannister Lane for a distance of 50 metres in a northerly direction.
ii. Chorley Road, Bispham from its junction with Bannister Lane for a distance of 165 metres in a southerly direction.
iii. Bannister Lane, Bispham from its junction with Bentley Lane for a distance of 100 metres in a easterly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 09:30 to 15:30 hours on Wednesday 03rd September 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Bannister Lane, Whittle Lane, High Moor Lane, Robin Hood Lane, Hill House Fold Lane, Courage Low Lane, Toogood Lane, Smithy Brow, Barmskin Lane, Bentley Lane, Ridley Lane, Dark Lane, Hall Lane, New Street, Smithy Lane, Black Moor Road, Rufford Road, Hall Lane, Robin Lane, Chorley Road and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow safe access for pole testing works to be carried out.
