What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND
(WILLIAM STREET ONE-WAY TRAFFIC)
TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that on 25th August 2025 Sunderland City Council made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 9, 10 and 122 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act. The Order comes into force on 29th August 2025. The effect of the Order is to prohibit any Motor Vehicle from proceeding along William Street other than in a northerly direction. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected during normal opening hours at the City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland, until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which the Order is made. An electronic copy of the documents can also be obtained by emailing:

statutoryorders@sunderland.gov.uk.

In addition, a paper copy can be requested by telephoning 01915611612 during office hours. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with that person may within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made apply for the purpose to the High Court.
