What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (St Georges Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary
Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.147) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.


The Order comes into operation from 8th September 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
ST GEORGES ROAD
Between its junctions with St Georges Square and Gunwharf Road.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate bridge inspection works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 8th September 2025 to 9th September 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place between 22:00 - 06:00 on Monday and Tuesday nights.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from St Georges Road, Cambridge Junction Roundabout, Cambridge Road, St Michaels Road, Anglesea Road, Queen Street, Wickham Street, Clock Street, The Hard and The Hard, Queen Street, Alfred Road, Market Way, Hope Street Roundabout, Market Way, Alfred Road, Anglesea Road, St Michaels Road, King Richard I Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the
works.
