Footpath Nos. 2 & 3, Ashwater - Public Path Extinguishment & Definitive Map & Statement Modification Order

What is happening?

NOTICE OF MAKING ORDERS HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 & WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 DEVON COUNTY COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NOS. 2 & 3, ASHWATER) PUBLIC PATH EXTINGUISHMENT & DEFINITIVE MAP & STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025 (FOOTPATH NOS. 2 & 3, ASHWATER) PUBLIC PATH CREATION & DEFINITIVE MAP & STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025 

The above Orders made concurrently on 5th August 2025, under section 26 of the Highways Act 1980, will extinguish parts of public Footpath Nos. 2 & 3 and create a part of public Footpath No. 2, Ashwater at Muckworthy Chapel Farm, as shown on the Order map. 

A copy of the Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge by appointment with the:-Public Rights of Way Service, Great Moor House, Bittern Road, Sowton, Exeter, EX2 7NL; Torridge District Council, Riverside House, Bideford, EX39 2QG; Clerk to Ashwater Parish Council; and Online at www.devon.gov.uk/haveyoursay. 

Any representations about or objections to the Orders may be sent in writing to the Public Rights of Way Service, Lucombe House, County Hall, Exeter EX2 4QD, not later than 19th September 2025. Please state the grounds on which they are made. 

Copies of any objections or representations received may be circulated to interested parties. If no such representations or objection are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Devon County Council may confirm the Orders as an unopposed Orders. 

If the Orders are sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs for confirmation, any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Orders.
