Various Roads, Shepton Mallet in the Parish of Shepton Mallet (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2025
Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary traffic restrictions as specified in the Schedules below.
This Order will come into operation on the 4th day of September 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months.
The Works are expected to commence on the 9th day of September 2025 until the 18th day of September 2025 (between 1830 hours and 2330 hours, weekdays only, roads will be open at all other times.) to enable Heidelberg working on behalf of Somerset Council to carry out resurfacing works on the A361. Whilst the works are in place there will be no vehicular access onto the High Street.
The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles.

Schedule 1 - Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles
A361 Commercial Road, Shepton Mallet - From its junction with the A361 Paul Street and the High Street for a distance of 75 metres
A361 Paul Street, Shepton Mallet - From its junction with the A361 Commercial Road to its junction with Frithfield Lane High Street, Shepton Mallet - From its junction with the A361 Commercial Road and the A361 Paul Street in a northerly direction for its entire length.
Schedule 2 - Temporary Suspension of the One Way
Great Ostry, Shepton Mallet - For its entire length.
Statement of reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road;
b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
