What is happening?

NOTICE OF MODIFICATION ORDER
SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 198
COUNTY OF DEVON DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT DEVON COUNTY COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NOS. 1 & 4, ASHWATER) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

The above Order made on 5th August 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by deleting part of Footpath No. 1 from the county road, T2402, at the southern end of Langaford Lane, T2405, to the hamlet of Langaford and its junction with Footpath No. 4, in the parish of Ashwater and administrative district of Torridge.

A copy of the Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge by appointment with the:- Public Rights of Way Service, Great Moor House, Bittern Road, Sowton, Exeter, EX2 7NL; Torridge District Council, Riverside House, Bideford, EX39 2QG; Clerk to Ashwater Parish Council; and Online at www.devon.gov.uk/haveyoursay.

Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to the Public Rights of Way Service, Great Moor House, Bittern Road, Sowton, Exeter, EX2 7NL, not later than 10th October 2025 and applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made.

Copies of any objections or representations received may be circulated to interested parties.

If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Devon County Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State, may itself confirm the Order.

If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any representations or objections, which have been duly made and not withdrawn, will be sent with it.
