A396 Cutcombe Hill, Timberscombe, Cutcombe - Temporary 20mph Speed Limit due to safety after a major incident

What is happening?

Notice is hereby given that on the 22nd August 2025 Somerset Council made the above Order in exercise of the provisions of Section 14 (1) of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as previously advertised on the 15th day of August 2025, to introduce a temporary 20mph Speed Limit as specified in the Schedule below.
This Order will come into operation on the 29th day of August 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months. The Works are expected to commence on the 5th day of September 2025 until the 31st day of March 2026 (between 00:00 hours and 23:59 hours) to enable Kier working on behalf of Somerset Council to carry out works to maintain the safety of the highway following a major incident. The restriction will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles.

A396 Cutcombe Hill, Timberscombe from a point 85 metres southwest from the junction with Ashwell Lane in a north easterly direction for a
distance of 260 metres.

Statement of reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
