North Yorkshire, Temporary Footpath & Bridleway Closures Due To Water Pipe Replacement
What is happening?
NORTH YORK MOORS NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS)
Public Bridleway 7 & Public Footpaths 210 & 209 Levisham
(Levisham Moor) (NYC path refs: 25.125/00, 25.125/210 & 25.125/09)
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 14(1) (as amended)
The North York Moors National Park Authority intends to make an order, not less than 7 days from the date of this notice, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the in the parish of Levisham in the county of North Yorkshire:
Public Bridleway 7 Levisham: (A-B-C)
No pedestrian, horse-rider or cyclist shall proceed along this bridleway commencing at Saltergate Elbow (A169 road) at Grid Reference SE 8492 9406 (Point A) and proceeding in a generally westerly, then south-westerly direction for 3461 metres across Levisham Moor to Grid Reference SE 8287 9186 (Point B – junction with Public Footpath 210 Levisham); then turns to proceed in a generally south-easterly direction for a further 250 metres to meet the U3454 road at Grid Reference SE 8308 9166 (Point C). A total distance of 3711 metres.
Public Footpath 210 Levisham: (B – D)
No pedestrian shall proceed along this footpath commencing at Grid Reference SE 8287 9186 (Point B – junction with Public Bridleway 7 Levisham) and proceeding in a generally south-westerly direction for 310 metres to meet the U3453 road at Grid Reference SE 8268 9161 (Point D). A total distance of 310 metres.
Public Footpath 209 Levisham: (E – F)
No pedestrian shall proceed along this footpath commencing at Grid Reference SE 8220 9187 (Point E – junction with Public Bridleway 223 Levisham) and proceeding in a generally south then south-westerly direction for 400 metres to meet the U3452 road at Grid Reference SE 8209 9154 (Point F). A total of 400 metres.
There are no alternative routes.
The Order is necessary to allow for the replacement of a major water pipe across Levisham Moor.
The closure takes effect from 1 September 2025 and will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices and signs.
