Bridgwater - Temporary Traffic Restrictions due to Pole Works

What is happening?

in the Parish of Middlezoy

(Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2025

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary traffic restrictions as detailed in the Schedules below. This Order will come into operation on the 2nd day of September 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The Works are expected to commence on the 8th day of September 2025 until the 10th day of October 2025 (between 08:00 hours and 18:30 hours) to enable RA Stacey’s, Network Plus and Corehighways on behalf of National Grid Electricity Distribution to erect new poles. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles.

Schedule 1 – Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

Main Road, Bridgwater – from the junction with the A372 Langport Road for a distance of 1100 metres Back Lane, Bridgwater – for its entire length, Main Road to Back Lane, Bridgwater – for its entire length, Nethermoor Road, Bridgwater – from the junction with Main Road for a distance of 293 metres

Schedule 2 – Temporary 40mph Speed Limit

A372 Langport Road, Bridgwater – From a point 190 metres east of the junction with Moor Road in a westerly then northerly direction for a distance of 530 metres

Moor Road, Bridgwater – From the junction with the A372 Langport Road for a distance of 109 metres

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road;

b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
