York, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 21 August 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (1) & (2). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12) & (13).

(1) CINDER STREET, LEEMAN ROAD & STATION RISE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Cinder Street, Leeman Road & Station Rise, York (i) Cinder Street, York between its junction with Leeman Road and the eastern kerbline for the York Train Station Car Park Access road, (ii) Leeman Road, York between its junction with Cinder Street and a point 60 metres east of the projected eastern boundary line of Marble Arch Bridge (closed roads) and (iii) the north bound traffic lane of Station Rise between its junctions with Station Road and Leeman Road (closed traffic lane) during the period when carriageway and footpath construction works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2330hrs on Saturday, 23 August 2025 and ending at 0530hrs on Monday, 15 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the closed roads and closed traffic lane will only be put into effect during the following dates and time: From 2330hrs on Saturday 23 August 2025 till 0530hrs on Tuesday 26 August 2025, from 1930hrs on Friday 29 August till 0530hrs on Monday 1 September 2025, from 1930hrs on Friday 5 September till 0530hrs on Monday 8 September 2025, from 1930hrs on Friday 12 September till 0530hrs on Monday 15 September 2025.

(2) GILLAMOOR AVENUE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Gillamoor Avenue, York from its junction with Fifth Avenue westwards (closed road) during the period when electricity mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Tuesday, 26 August 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Monday, 08 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained during the works period.

(3) MANOR PARK ROAD, MANOR PARK GROVE & ELMA GROVE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Manor Park Road, Manor Park Grove & Elma Grove, York (i) Manor Park Road between its junctions with Manor Park Rise between its junction with Manor Lane and Rawcliffe Croft and (ii) on Manor Park Grove between its junction with Manor Park Road and a location 17 metres north-east of said junction and (iii) on Elma Grove between its junction with Manor Park Road and a location 14 metres north-east of said junction (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Tuesday, 02 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Manor Lane, Rawcliffe Croft.

(4) BORE TREE BAULK, DUNNINGTON

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bore Tree Baulk, Dunnington between its junction with Hull Road (A1079) and a location 80 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when bus stop improvement works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1930hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 0530hrs on Thursday, 04 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 1930hrs and 0530hrs each night of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Stamford Bridge Road, Hull Road (A1079).

(5) BACK LANE BETWEEN 1 FALSGRAVE CRESCENT AND 4 RATCLIFFE AND 162 TO 208 BURTON STONE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Back Lane Between 1 Falsgrave Crescent And 4 Ratcliffe And 162 To 208 Burton Stone, York between its junction with Glenco Street and a location 30 metres north-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 05 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Glencoe Street, Falsgrave Crescent.

(6) DRUMMOND VIEW, BISHOPTHORPE

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Drummond View, Bishopthorpe between its junction with Ferry Lane Avenue onwards (closed road) during the period when footway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Friday, 12 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0730hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(7) LEEMAN ROAD (MEMORIAL GARDENS), YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of cycleway on Leeman Road (Memorial Gardens), York between its junction with Marygate Car Park Esplanade From Leeman Road and Station Avenue (closed cycleway) during the period when flood defence works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0010hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 10 October 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Station Rise, Station Avenue.

(8) MILL STREET, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Mill Street, York between its junctions with Piccadilly and George Street (closed road) during the period when building development works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 01 September 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 01 March 2027 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed via George Street, Lead Mill Lane, Piccadilly.

(9) MILL LANE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of carriageway on Mill Lane, York between its junctions with East Parade and Heworth Green (closed carriageway) during the period when electricity grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Tuesday, 02 September 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Thursday, 04 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, right hand turns by vehicles from Union Street into Mill Lane will be prohibited for the duration of the works period (restricted movement). An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via East Parade, Heworth Road, Heworth Green.

(10) MARYGATE LANE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Marygate Lane, York between its junction with Marygate and a location 43 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period in which power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 02 September 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Thursday, 04 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles & pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Marygate, Hetherton Street, Frederick Street.

(11) WATER END, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of cycleway & footway on the south-eastern side of Water End, York between its junction with Boroughbridge Road and a location 300 metres north-east of said junction (closed footway / cycleway) during the period when York Central Highway works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Tuesday, 02 September 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Thursday, 04 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(12) FAIRFIELD COTTAGES, SKELTON

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Fairfield Cottages, Skelton between both junctions with Shipton Road (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Wednesday, 03 September 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 04 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(13) MELTON DRIVE, BISHOPTHORPE

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Melton Drive, Bishopthorpe between the projected south-western boundaries of property no’s 3 and 5 (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Wednesday, 03 September 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Tuesday, 09 September 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the works period.

The above Temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
