What is happening?

THE WOLVERHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL

(BILSTON ISLANDS AND LINK ROAD)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wolverhampton City Council propose to make an Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as substituted by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, prohibiting vehicles from proceeding on
the following stretches of road:

* Island at Millfields Road/Coseley Road/High Street/Wolverhampton Street closed in all directions. Vehicular Diversion Route: Black Country Route, Birmingham New Road, Thompson Avenue, Birmingham Road, Grove Street, Dudley Road, Ring Road, Bilston Road, Wellington Road, Lichfield Street, Oxford Street and Black Country Route or Black Country Route, Oxford Street, Lichfield Street, Wellington Road, Bilston Road, Ring Road, Birmingham Road, Thompson Avenue, Birmingham New Road and Black
Country Route.
It is anticipated that the closure will operate from 2 September 2025 until 9 September 2025, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00.

* Coseley Road Island with Black Country Route closed in all directions.

* Coseley Road closed in both directions between its island with Millfields Road/High Street/ Wolverhampton Street and its island with Ambergate Road.

* Black Country Route closed in both directions from its island with Springvale Road to Coseley Road Island. Vehicular Diversion Route: Black Country Route, Birmingham New Road, Thompson Avenue, Birmingham Road, Grove Street, Dudley Road, Ring Road, Bilston Road, Wellington Road, Lichfield Street, Oxford Street
and Black Country Route or Black Country Route, Oxford Street, Lichfield Street, Wellington Road, Bilston Road, Ring Road, Birmingham Road, Thompson Avenue, Birmingham New Road and Black Country Route.
It is anticipated that the closures will operate from 3 September 2025 until 11 September 2025, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00.

* Coseley Road closed in both directions between it’s island with Black Country Route and it’s island with Ambergate Road. Vehicular Diversion Route: Coseley Road, Broad Lanes, Ladymoor Road, Anchor Road, Biddings Lane, Shaw Road, Birmingham New Road, Black Country Route and vice versa.
It is anticipated that the closure will operate from 5 September 2025 until 12 September 2025, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00.

* Coseley Road closed in both directions between its island with Black Country Route and its junction with Ambergate Road, including the island at Ambergate Road. Coseley Road Vehicular Diversion Route: Coseley Road, Broad Lanes, Ladymoor Road, Anchor Road, Biddings Lane, Shaw Road, Birmingham New Road, Black Country Route and vice versa. Ambergate Road Vehicular Diversion Route: Ambergate Road, Capponfield Road, Ladymoor Road, Anchor Road, Biddings Lane, Shaw Road, Birmingham New Road, Black Country Route and vice versa.

It is anticipated that the closure will operate from 8 September 2025 until 15 September 2025, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00.
The Order may operate for a maximum period of eighteen months, but it is anticipated that the works will be undertaken between the dates detailed above, at the times stipulated, with only one location closed at any one time.
The Order is required to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works.
