What is happening?

WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14
(PUBLIC FOOTPATH KZ24 (PART) – ROADE)
(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that West Northamptonshire Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along that length of Public Footpath KZ24 (Part) in Roade as specified below. Private access to land or premises adjacent to the said length of footpath are unaffected.

RIGHT OF WAY TO WHICH RESTRICTION APPLIES: That length of Public Footpath KZ24 to be closed commences north of St Mary’s Church at the junction with footpath KZ17 at point A on the map at National Grid Reference (‘NGR’) SP7571 5189. The route then proceeds generally south for 69 metres to terminate at Church End at point B on the map at NGR SP7573 5182. The route to be closed is shown on the map by a solid black line between points A-B.

REASONS FOR RESTRICTION: The restriction is required in the interest of health and safety to allow cable works which run along the footpath.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: The Order will come into effect on 8th September 2025 and will continue in force for a period of six months. An application may be made for the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport for this Order to be extended if this proves necessary. However, the restriction specified will have effect only at such times and to such extent as is indicated by the display of notices.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: The alternative route commences at point A on the map at NGR SP7571 5189. It then proceeds north-east along footpath KZ17 and then Butlins Lane for 142 metres to point C at SP7581 5200 at the junction with Northampton Road. The route then proceeds generally south-east along the footway of Northampton Road and then The Green for 357 metres to point D at NGR SP7597 5176. The route then proceeds generally west along High Street for 215 metres to terminate at point E at NGR SP7576 5173 at the junction with Church End. The alternative route is shown on the map by a broken black line between A-C-D-E.
