What is happening?

Temporary Closure of West Coker Hill, Partway Lane and Ridge Lane

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along: West Coker Hill - from the junction with Ridge Lane, southwards incorporating Partway Lane for a distance of 564 metres; and Ridge Lane - from the junction with West Coker Hill, south-eastwards for a distance of 458 metres. A total distance of 1022 metres.

This Order will enable Wessex Internet to carry out phased fibre cable installation works (as and when signed on site).

The Order becomes effective on 4th September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 8th September 2025 and last until 26th September 2025 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 19 days.

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
