FLEMING WAY BUS INTERCHANGE SCHEME TRAFFIC ORDERS

Notice is HEREBY GIVEN that Swindon Borough Council made the following Orders under the relevant sections of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:

ST/TRO/Fleming Way Bus Gate The Swindon Borough Council (Bus Lanes, Bus Gates And Bus Only Roads) Order 2022 Amendment Order (No. 1) 2025. Introduces a bus gate on Fleming Way on both eastbound and westbound carriageways between the Whalebridge and Milford Street junction and between the junctions of Milford Street and Fleming Way Bus Loop. Taxis are exempt. Introduction of Bus Only restriction restricting a left turn with the exception of buses and taxis on Milford Street into Fleming Way and Fleming Way into Fleet Street.

ST/TRO/Fleming Way/Traffic Movement The Swindon Borough Council (Various Roads, Swindon)

(Prohibition Of Driving) Consolidation Order 2023 Amendment Order (No. 1) 2025. Introduction of No right turn on Fleming Way westbound onto Milford Street and Fleming Way (bus loop) onto Holbrook Way. Introduction of No Entry on John Street at a point 55 metres from the junction with Fleet Street at the exit of Fleming Way bus interchange holding area, Fleming Way with the junction with Fleet Street, Fleming Way bus loop with the junction Milford Street and Milford Street with junction of Fleming Way. Introduction of No entry except cycles on Beales Close at its junction with Fleming Way bus loop. Introduction

Prohibition of Motor vehicles except taxis on Fleming Way bus loop at its junction with Beales Close.

ST/TRO/Fleming Way CPZ The Swindon Borough Council (Waiting and Loading Restrictions And Parking Places Consolidation) Order 2021 (Variation No. 2) Order 2025. Introduce a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) where waiting and loading is prohibited at all times as indicated by entry/exit signs on Fleming Way, Milford Street, Beales Close, Cheltenham Street, Fleet Street and John Street with the exception of taxis and buses using bus stops and taxi ranks.

ST/TRO/Fleming Way Taxi Ranks and Bus Stop Clearways

The Swindon Borough Council (Waiting And Loading Restrictions And Parking Places Consolidation) Order 2021 (Variation No. 3) Order 2025. Introduce Taxi Ranks ‘where parking is prohibited 24 Hours except taxis’ on Milford Street and Fleming Way. Introduce bus stop clearways ‘where stopping is prohibited except local buses’ on Fleming Way and Milford Street. Introduction of timeplate signs to read ‘local buses only every 10 minutes no return within 1 hour’.

The Orders will be operative as of 18 August 2025. A copy of the documents for the Orders may be inspected online at www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders

If you wish to question the validity of the Orders, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, you may, within 6 weeks from 13 August 2025, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
