What is happening?

SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROADS, SWINDON)

Notice is HEREBY GIVEN that Swindon Borough Council made the following Orders under the relevant sections of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:

ST/TRO/Highworth Events The Swindon Borough Council (Various Roads, Swindon)

(Prohibition of Driving) Consolidation Order 2023 Amendment Order (No. 2) 2025. To introduce a prohibition of driving during an agreed event taking place as indicated by appropriate traffic signs on High Street, Market Place, Sheep Street and Cherry Orchard. A copy of the documents for the above proposed Orders may be inspected online at www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders

ST/TRO/Westmead Drive The Swindon Borough Council (Waiting and Loading Restrictions and Parking Places Consolidation) Order 2021 (Variation No. 7) Order 2025.

Introduce ‘no waiting at any time’ restriction on Westmead Drive (south east side).

ST/TRO/Newbridge Close The Swindon Borough Council (Waiting and Loading Restrictions and Parking Places Consolidation) Order 2021 (Variation No. 5) Order 2025.

To revoke ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ and ‘no stopping except Taxis’ on Newbridge Close, Swindon.

ST/TRO/London Street/Sheppard Street The Swindon Borough Council (Waiting and Loading Restrictions and Parking Places Consolidation) Order 2021 (Variation No. 1) Order 2025. To revoke residents parking to be replaced by ‘no waiting at any time’ restriction and revocation of ‘no waiting at any time’ to be replaced by ‘Goods Vehicle Loading only’ on London Street. Also revocation of ‘no waiting at any time’ to be replaced by ‘bus stop clearway, no stopping except buses, 24 hours’ on Sheppard Street.

ST/TRO/B4000 Shrivenham Road The Swindon Borough Council (Various Roads, Swindon) (Speed Limits) Consolidation Order 2022 (Variation No. 4) 2024. To implement a modification (road stud) pursuant to section 11 of the 1984 Act (which imposes a 30 mph speed limit identified by the placement of 30 mph tiles) on B4000 Shrivenham Road from a point 668 metres east of Brewery Street and Swindon Road for a distance of 241 metres in an easterly direction. Also implementation of a 40mph speed limit from a point 1002 metres east of the junction of Brewery Street and Swindon Road for a distance of 300 metres in a south easterly direction.

The above Orders will be operative from 25 August 2025. A copy of the Order documents may be inspected online at www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders

If you wish to question the validity of the Orders, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, you may, within 6 weeks from 13 August 2025 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
