Rail Bridges, Salford Highways Network - Various Weight Limits Order

What is happening?

Notice is hereby given that Salford City Council has made the City of Salford (Rail Bridges, Salford Highways Network) (Various Weight Limits) Order 2025 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to introduce the following weight limits - 

1. Prohibition of Vehicles Over Maximum Gross Weight of 7.5 Tonnes (i) Oldfield Road, from its junction with Barlow Road to a point 50 metres north of its junction with Duncan Street (ii) Frederick Road, from a point 150 metres southwest from its junction with Lissadel Street to its junction with Strawberry Road (iii) Bridge Street, from its junction with Lottie Street to its junction with Gladstone Street. 
2. Prohibition of Vehicles Over Maximum Gross Weight of 3 Tonnes Gardner Street, from its junction with Gloucester Street to the extended north western kerbline of Higham View.
3. Prohibition of Vehicles Over Maximum Gross Weight of 18 Tonnes Station Road, from its junction with Cromwell Road to its junction with Boundary Road.
4. Prohibition of Vehicles Over Maximum Gross Weight of 13 Tonnes (with exemption for buses) (i) Cemetery Road South, from its junction with Rutland Street to its junction with Cromwell Road; and (ii) Old Clough Lane, from a point 40 metres south from its junction with How Clough Drive to its junction with Devoke Avenue. 

The Order was made on 15 August 2025 and will come into effect on 26 August 2025. 

A copy of Order and plan are available for inspection at Swinton Gateway, 100 Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 6BP Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. Anyone wishing to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may within 6 weeks from 15 August 2025 apply to the High Court for such purpose.
