CUMBERLAND COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROADS, CARLISLE URBAN AND RURAL AREA) (CONSOLIDATION AND PROVISION OF TRAFFIC REGULATIONS) (NO. 2) ORDER 20<<

  1. Cumberland Council hereby give notice that it proposes to make the above Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (4), 19, 32, 35, 35A, 38, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51, 53 and 64 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

  2. The effect of the proposed Order will be to consolidate, and re-enact the restrictions and provisions of the Cumberland Council (Various Roads, Carlisle Urban and Rural Area) (Consolidation and Provision of Traffic Regulations) Order 2025, and make the following amendments :-

    i) Introduce “No Waiting At Any Time” (double yellow line restrictions) on parts of the following roads in Carlisle :- Tilbury Road and Warwick Road Junction; Linton Street and Delacga Street Junction;

    Tramside Way and Lindisfarne Street Junction; Etterby Street and Etterby Lea Road Junction;

    Etterby Scaur (outside Austin Friars School); Wigton Road between junctions Ashley Street and Canal Street; Granville Road (lane between Nos. 91 and 93); Graham Street and McIlmoyle Way Junction. Scotand Road (extension); Kingstown Broadway; Newmarket Road (extension).

ii) Introduce “No Waiting, 8.00 am – 6.00pm, Monday to Friday inclusive” at Carleton Day Centre, A6;

iii) Introduce “Disc Parking between the hours of 8 am – 8 pm, Monday to Friday and 8 am – 6 pm, Saturday – Residents of Zone E Exempt” on Peel Street, Carlisle, both sides of the cul-de-sac, house numbers 41-67 inclusive (odd numbers only);

iv) Introduce “Disc Parking between the hours of 8 am – 8 pm, Monday to Friday and 8 am – 6 pm, Saturday, waiting limited to 2 hours. No return within 1 hour” on Scotland Road, Carlisle, (both sides) outside The Crown public house;

v) To reduce the length of “Disc Parking (Residents of Zone F Exempt) between 8 am – 8 pm, Monday to Friday and 8 am – 6 pm Saturday”, between Nos. 29 and 37 on Scotland Road, Carlisle (outside The Crown public house);

vi) Introduce “No Waiting At Any Time” (double yellow line restrictions) on parts of the following roads in Brampton :- Moat Street (extension) and The Grove;

vii) Introduce “No Waiting At Any Time” (double yellow line restrictions) on parts of Station Road, Dalston;

viii) Introduce “No Waiting At Any Time” (double yellow line restrictions) on parts of Waters Meet and Little Corby Road, Warwick Bridge;

ix) To revoke/remove a short section of the existing 7.5 tonne weight restriction on the B5299 Dalston Road, Carlisle, as part of the Carlisle Southern Relief Road reconfiguration;

x) To reduce the extent of the “Loading Only” restriction on Victoria Viaduct Carlisle, and introduce “No Waiting At Any Time” (double yellow line restrictions) on the remaining lengths; and

xi) To introduce 2 no. “Disabled Parking Places, 8.30 am – 6.00 pm, Monday – Saturday, Waiting limited to 3 hours, Return Prohibited within the same calendar day” on The Square, Dalston.

3. Full details of the proposed Order, together with copies of the Order to be consolidated and revoked, and plans showing the lengths of road concerned, and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be :-
