Whicham, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A595 NEAR BOOTLE, WHITBECK AND WHICHAM) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

  1. A595, Near Bootle, from a point approx.160 metres north of its junction with Church Lane, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 180m.

    Duration: From 1 September 2025 for approx. 2 weeks between 1900 hours and 0500 hours each day (Ref: TTROC1/5723)

  2. A595, Whitbeck, from a point adjacent to the property known as Stangarh, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 1.6km

    Duration: From 15 September 2025 for approx. 6 days between 1900 hours and 0500 hours each day (Ref: TTROC1/5725)

  3. A595, Whicham, from its junction with the A5093, extending in an overall north westerly direction for approx. 650m.

    Duration: From 6 October 2025 for approx. 5 days between 1900 hours and 0500 hours each day (Ref: TTROC1/5726)

Alternative Routes during the restrictions detailed in 1 to 3 above:

For vehicles permitted to use the motorway: via the unrestricted sections of the A595, A5092, A590, M6 and A66.

For vehicles not permitted to use the motorway: via the A595, A5092, A509, A591 and A66.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times

The Order will come into operation on 1 September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.

However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
