Cumberland, Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (LORNE STREET, CARLISLE, LONGTHWAITE ROAD, WIGTON, U2138 BLAITHWAITE AND C1015 LOW HARKER) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

  1. Lorne Street, Carlisle, from its junction with Randall Street to its junction with Lorne Crescent.

    Alternative Route for South West Bound Vehicles: via Randall Street, Charlotte Street and Lorne Crescent.

    Duration: From 1 September 2025 for approx. 10 days (Ref: TTROCI/5449)

  2. U2138 Longthwaite Road, Wigton, from its junction with Longthwaite Crescent, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 40m.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Longthwaite Road, Cuddy Lonning and the B5304 South End.

    Duration: From 15 September 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROCI/5597)

  3. U2138 Blaithwaite, from a point adjacent to the property known as School Room Cottage, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 170m.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2138, C2006, A596 and U2139.

    Duration: From 22 September 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROCI/5598)

  4. C1015 Low Harker, from a point adjacent to the property known as Rosewood, extending in a generally north westerly direction for approx. 130m.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C1015, C1022 Parkhouse Road, A689 Greymoorhill Interchange and the A7.

    Duration: From 27 October 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROCI/5419)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 1 September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
