Longtown, Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U1001 NEAR LONGTOWN)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

  1. U1001 near Longtown, from its junction with the U1002, extending in an overall south easterly direction for approx. 2.5 km.

    Duration: From 2 September 2025 for approx. 15 days between 0800 and 1800 hours each day (Ref: TTROC/14888)

  2. U1001 near Longtown, from its junction with the U1003, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 600m.

    Duration: From 2 October 2025 for approx. 15 days between 0800 and 1800 hours each day (Ref: TTROC/14892)

Alternative Route during the restrictions detailed in 1 and 2 above: via the unrestricted sections of the U1001, A7 and C1010.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 2 September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.

However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
