Cumberland, Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U1121 NEAR MOORHOUSE, B5299 CALDBECK AND C1042 NEAR NEWBIGGIN)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
U1121, Moorhouse (Powburgh Beck) from a point approx. 615m north west of its junction with the B5307, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 50m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U1121, U1191 Burgh by Sands, C2042 Monkhill, U1113, Monkhill to Moorhouse and the B5307.
Duration: From 1 September 2025 for approx. 5 days

B5299, Caldbeck from its junction with the U2154, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 700m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5299, A595 Mealsgate to Wigton and the B5305.
Duration: From 1 September 2025 for approx. 25 days

C1042, Near Newbiggin from a point approx. 550m north west of its junction with the U3074, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 60m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C1042, B6413 and the U3074.
Duration: From 8 September 2025 for approx. 3 days

B5299, Caldbeck from its junction with the U2154, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 800m
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5299, A595 Mealsgate to Wigton and the B5305.
Duration: From 29 September 2025 for approx. 11 days

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times

The Order will come into operation on 1 September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
