What is happening?
DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
(TEMPORARY ROAD AND FOOTWAY CLOSURES) ORDER 2025
WOODLAND ROAD, DARLINGTON
Darlington Borough Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be:
TEMPORARY FOOTWAY CLOSURES
WOODLAND ROAD NORTH SIDE FOOTWAY
From a point 33 metres west of the west side of Hollyhurst Road junction westwards to a point 70 metres west of the west side of Dene Grove junction
WOODLAND ROAD SOUTH SIDE FOOTWAY
From a point 20 metres east of the east side of the entrance to St Teresa’s Hospice westwards to the eastern boundary of 187 Woodland Road
The footways will be closed in sections as work progresses, alternative routes will be available on the opposite side of the road.
TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES
Each of the following from their junction with Woodland Road northwards for approximately 25 metres:
TOWER ROAD, PIERREMONT DRIVE, PIERREMONT ROAD, BRACKEN ROAD, DENE GROVE
Each of the following from their junction with Woodland Road southwards for approximately 25 metres:
PIERREMONT GARDENS, PIERREMONT CRESCENT
Only one junction will be closed at a time.
The Order is necessary to allow construction of a cycleway, footway and road junction reconstruction works.
The maximum duration of the temporary closures under this Order is 18 months commencing from 1st October 2025, it is anticipated that it will be effective for 10 months.
