Damside Street - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(DAMSIDE STREET, LANCASTER, LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Damside Street, Lancaster from its junction with New Road to its junction with Wood Street.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 2000 hours on Monday 1st September 2025 until 0500 hours on Tuesday 2nd September 2025 or until completion of the works within this period
4. Access for Emergency Service Vehicles will be maintained. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is one way via:-
A6 China Street – A6 North Road – A6 Rosemary Lane – A6 Stonewell – A6 Great John Street – A6 Dalton Square – A6 Thurnham Street – A6 Penny Street – A6 King Street – A6 China Street.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to enable safe access to Manholes in the carriageway for engineers for survey to be carried out by Global Surveys.
