Croydon, Multiple Roads, Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Official Notice

2. Whilst the said works are taking place:

a) Woodmansterne Road will be closed in sections between its junctions with Woodcote Grove Road and St. Andrew’s Road from 18 August 2025 to 12 September 2025.

b) St Andrew’s Road will be closed in sections between its junctions with Woodmansterne Road and Alexander Road from 29 August 2025 to 27 October 2025.

c) Woodmansterne Road will be closed between its junctions with St Andrew’s Road and Bramley Avenue from 29 August 2025 to 15 September 2025.

d) Parking within the closed sections of road will be suspended as necessary.

e) Whilst the closures are in force the diversion routes for traffic will be as detailed in the Schedule to this Notice.

  1. The Order will come into operation on 18 August 2025, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed as detailed above. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

  2. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:

    (a) A vehicle involved in the said work.

    (b) A vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.

    (c) Anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

  3. The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such an extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, SECTION 14 AS AMENDED AND THE ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991

RUSKIN ROAD & TAMWORTH ROAD, CROYDON

TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC

  1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate telecoms works to rectify a defected carriage chamber on behalf of Vodafone, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic on Ruskin Road and Tamworth Road, Croydon.

  2. Whilst the said works are taking place:

    a) Ruskin Road will be closed at its junction with Tamworth Road.

    b) Tamworth Road will be closed opposite Nos. 26 to 28 Tamworth Road.

  3. During the closures, vehicular traffic will be diverted via London Road, Sumner Road, Mitcham Road, Roman Way, and Reeves Corner.

  4. The Order will come into operation on 19 August 2025, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed overnight from 8pm on 19 August to 6am on 20 August 2025. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

  5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:

    (a) A vehicle involved in the said work.

    (b) A vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT, 1984, SECTION 14 AS AMENDED BY SECTION 47 OF SCHEDULE 5 TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 1985 AND THE ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991

MITCHAM ROAD, ROCHFORD WAY & THERAPIA LANE, CROYDON

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC & PARKING

  1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas main replacement works, they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic movements and parking in Mitcham Road, Rochford Way and Therapia Lane.

  2. Whilst the said works are taking place:

    a) Rochford Way shall be closed between its junctions with Mitcham Road and Therapia Lane.

    b) Therapia Lane will be closed at its junction with Mitcham Road.

    c) Parking will be suspended and temporary waiting and loading restrictions operating at any time will be introduced in Mitcham Road outside or opposite the following properties:

    • Outside Nos. 668 to 674, 668a to 652, 649 to 657, 637 to 643, 620 to 631 etc.

    • Opposite Nos. 543 to 531 Mitcham Road.

  3. During the closures, the alternative routes for traffic will be as detailed below:

    • Therapia Lane closure – via Mitcham Road, Rochford Way and vice versa.

    • Rochford Way closure – via Mitcham Road, Therapia Lane and vice versa.

  4. The Order will come into operation on 28 August 2025, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed within approximately twelve weeks. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

  5. These restrictions shall not apply in respect of:

    (a) any vehicle involved in conducting the said work.

    (b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency.

    (c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

SELHURST ROAD, SOUTH NORWOOD

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC

  1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate a railway bridge inspection, they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict traffic in Selhurst Road, South Norwood.

  2. Whilst the said works are taking place Selhurst Road will be closed for 20 metres either side of railway bridge WB17/57.

  3. Whilst the closure is in place the alternative route for traffic will be via Whitehorse Road, Windmill Lane, South Norwood Hill, South Norwood High Street, Southbank, Manor Road, Portland Road, Spring Lane, Lower Addiscombe Road, Shirley Road, Addiscombe Road, Cressywood Road, Fairfield Road, Barclay Road, Pump Pail South, Old Town, Roman Way, Mitcham Road, Sumner Road, St James’s Road and Selhurst Road.

  4. The Order will come into operation on 03 September 2025, and it is anticipated that the work will be carried out between 11:00pm on 03 September to 04:00am on 04 September 2025. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further work be required.

  5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:

    (a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said work.

    (b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes or for purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency.

    (c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
