What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B656 BARTON ROAD, HEXTON DURING THE ‘STAGE 3 LLOYDS TOUR OF BRITAIN MEN’) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 16(A) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic, except those associated with the event, from using that length of B656 Barton Road, Hexton from a point in line with the eastern boundary of ‘The Bungalow’, westwards to county boundary with Bedfordshire and from this point westwards for a distance of approximately 1527m (westwards county boundary).

There is no alternative route so there are no planned diversions in place on this road during the closure period.

The section of road will be closed between the hours of 12.00midday and 1.00pm on Thursday 4 September 2025, when signs are in place.

The purpose of the Order is to ensure public safety and prevent accidents for the duration of the ‘Stage 3 Lloyds Tour of Britain Men’.

A copy of the proposed Order may be inspected free of charge at County Hall, Hertford between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm (excluding weekends, bank and public holidays).

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN NEW INN ROAD, HINXWORTH) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of New Inn Road, Hinxworth from its junction with High Street south westwards, south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with A1 (unnamed road), a distance of approximately 2412m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Ashwell Road, Hinxworth Road, Newnham Way, Asthill Road, Newnham Road, A507 Great North Road, A1 (unnamed road), Edworth Road, Edworth (unnamed road) and A1 (London Road/ unnamed road).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BAINES LANE, KNEBWORTH) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the southernmost carriageway of Baines Lane, Knebworth from a point 18m south of its junction with Bragbury Lane northwards for a distance of approximately 18m (“the Road”), except for access.

There is no alternative route while Baines Lane is temporarily closed.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN A1155 FAIRLANDS WAY, STEVENAGE AND ASHWELL ROAD, BYGRAVE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of road (“the Roads”), to except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of the Roads when works are in progress:–

  1. the eastbound carriageway of A1155 Fairlands Way, Stevenage from its junction with the A1155 St Georges Way roundabout eastwards to its junction with the A602 Lytton Way, a distance of approximately 1575m.

    An alternative route will be via A1155 St Georges Way roundabout.

  2. that length of Ashwell Road, Bygrave from its junction with Bygrave Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 926m.

    An alternative route will be via Bygrave Road, A505 (North Road/Great North Road, Kingsland Way, Ashwell Street, Claybush Road and Ashwell Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 1 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN STEVENAGE AND HITCHIN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:–

  1. that length of Broad Oak Way, Stevenage from its junction with Broadwater Crescent north eastwards for a distance of approximately 337m.

    An alternative route will be via Broadwater Crescent, St Margarets and Broad Oak Way.

  2. that length of Willow Lane/Charlton Road, Hitchin from its junction with A505 Moorhead Hill south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with A602 Park Way, a distance of approximately 813m.

    An alternative route will be via A505 Moorhead Hill/Orchard Road/Stevenage Road and A602 Park Way.

  3. that length of A602 Park Way, Hitchin from the Grovesnor Road/B656 Upper Tilehouse Street/A505 Paynes Park roundabout eastwards to the A505 Park Way roundabout, a distance of approximately 1021m.

    An alternative route will be via B656 (Hitchin Hill/Part Street/Queens Road/ Walsworth Road) and A505 (Nightingale Road/Bunyan Road/Highbury Road/Redhill Street/Paynes Park) or via A505 (Park Way/Fishponds Road/Redhill Street/Bunyan Road/Nightingale Road) and B656 Walsworth Road/Queens Road/Park Street/Hitchin Hill).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 28 August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ARLESEY ROAD, ICKLEFORD) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Arlesey Road, Ickleford from a point in line with the northern boundary of No. 123 Arlesey Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 35m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Arlesey Road, Turnpike Lane, A600 Bedford Road, B659 Hitchin Road, A507 Arlesey Road, Arlesey Relief Road, Gosling Drive, House Lane, High Street, Hitchin Road and Arlesey Road.

The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 30 August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN BEECH HILL SERVICE ROAD, LILLEY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Beech Hill Service Road, Lilley from its junction with A505 Offley Bypass north eastwards to its junction with Lilley Bottom Road, a distance of approximately 25m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A505 (Offley Bypass/Moorhead Hill/Offley Road/Tilehouse Street), B656 and A505 Offley Road roundabout, A505 Upper Tilehouse Street, A505 Pirton Road/Moorhead Drive Bypass, Offley Hill, London Road, Holwell Hill and Lilley Bottom.

The Order is needed because water service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 18 August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of the Roads whilst works are in progress:-

  1. that length of A602 Hitchin Road, Stevenage from its junction with the Coreys Mill Lane roundabout south eastwards for a distance of approximately 620m.

    An alternative route will be via A602 Hitchin Road, B197 (Graveley Road/Jack’s Hill) and A505 (Baldock Bypass/Royston Road/Baldock Road/ Norton Road, Baldock/Brydges Road/Lanchester Road/London Road/Ermine Street/ London Road, Market Hill/Priory Lane/Melbourn Road), A505 (Baldock Bypass/Royston Road/Baldock Bypass) and B197 (Jack’s Hill/Hitchin Bypass/Graveley Road) and A602 Hitchin Road.

  2. that length of Law Hall Lane, Bendish from its junction with C27 (unnamed road) north eastwards to its junction with Lilley Bottom Road, a distance of approximately 1907m.

    An alternative route will be via C27 (unnamed road), Pasture Lane, Lower East End and Law Hall Lane.

  3. that length of U5106 (unnamed road), Whitwell/Langley Lane, Langley from its junction with C29 (unnamed road) north southwards, north eastwards, eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with B656 London Road, a distance of approximately 2074m.

    An alternative route will be via C29 (unnamed road), Bullocks Hill, B651 and Langley Lane.

  4. that length of Baldock Lane, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with A505 Letchworth Gate north eastwards to its junction with Willian Road, a distance of approximately 1177m.

    An alternative route will be via A505 Letchworth Gate, B656 (Baldock Road/ Hitchin Road), Weston Way and Willian Road.

  5. that length of U1951 (unnamed road)/Lillehall, Lilleshall from its junction with C14 (unnamed road) north westwards, north eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Newell Lane, a distance of approximately 660m.

    An alternative route will be via C14 (unnamed road), B1037 White Hill and Newell Lane.

  6. that length of Blakemore End Road, Little Wymondley from its junction with the A602 Wymondley Bypass north westwards, southwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 902m.

    An alternative route will be via Stevenage Road, A602 Stevenage Road, B656 London Road, Stevenbury Hill and Stevenage Road.

  7. that length of U5109 (unnamed road), Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Norton Road north eastwards, south eastwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 268m.

    An alternative route will be via Norton Road.

  8. that length of Wallington Road, Baldock from its junction with Clothall Public Bridleway No.020 south eastwards and north westwards to its junction with the B656 Royston Bypass interchange with Wallington Road/ Baldock Bypass roundabout, a distance of approximately 450m.

    An alternative route will be via Wallington Road, Kitts Lane, The Street, C10 (unnamed road), Redhill Road, C10 (unnamed road), Redhill Road, Roe Green, Rushden Road, C10 (unnamed road), Therfield Road, Baldock Road, Therfield Road, Station Road, Baldock Road, Royston Road, A505 (Baldock Bypass/ Royston Road), A505 (Royston Road/Baldock Bypass/Royston Road), Redhill Road, Therfield Road, Redhill Road and Wallington Road.

  9. that length of Woolgrove Road, Hitchin from its junction with Hitchin Road north westwards to its junction with B651 Footpath No.009, a distance of approximately 543m.

    An alternative route will be via Hitchin Road, London Road, C10 (unnamed road), C10 (unnamed road), C10 (unnamed road), Luton Road and Woolgrove Road.

  10. that length of Symonds Green Lane, Stevenage from its junction with Eastbourne Avenue north westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 382m.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  11. that length of Chalk Hills, Baldock from its junction with Hatch Lane north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with B197 London Road, a distance of approximately 1158m.

    An alternative route will be via Hatch Lane, Green End, Asthanger Lane, Easton Hill, South Road and B197 London Road.

  12. that length of Weston Road, Baldock from its junction with Hitchin Road north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Radburn Way, a distance of approximately 1546m.

    An alternative route will be via Weston Road, Calder Way, Orwell Avenue, A505 (Baldock Bypass/Weston Road), A602 Martins Way, A602 Hitchin Road, B197 (Graveley Road/Hitchin Street/Jack’s Hill), Lannock Hill and Hitchin Road.

  13. that length of Folly Lane, St Ippolyts from its junction with Spierberry Hill north westwards 318m to its junction with Stevenage Road, a distance of approximately 318m.

    An alternative route will be via No Name Road and Bullocks Hill.

  1. that length of Charlton Road, Hitchin from its junction with Willow Lane south westwards for a distance of approximately 763m.

    An alternative route will be via Charlton Road, A602 Park Way, Gosmore Road, Hitchin Road, High Street, Maydencroft Lane and Charlton Road.

  2. that length of Bennetts Lane/Southern Green, Rushden from its junction with C5 (unnamed road) eastwards, south eastwards, eastwards, north eastwards, eastwards, north eastwards, north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Broadfield Lodge Farm Road, a distance of approximately 1930m.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  3. that length of Walnut Tree Road/Royal Oak Lane, Pirton from its junction with West Lane north eastwards, north westwards, north eastwards and northwards to its junction with Hitchin Road, a distance of approximately 904m.

    An alternative route will be via West Lane, Shillington Road, Priors Hill and Hitchin Road.

  4. that length of U5217 (unnamed road), St Pauls Walden from its junction with No Name Road north westwards, south westwards, south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Bullocks Hill, a distance of approximately 770m.

    An alternative route will be via No Name Road and Bullocks Hill.

  5. that length of Wych Elm Lane, Oaklands/Gipsy Lane, Knebworth from its junction with Spingmead from its junction with Stockens Green, a distance of approximately 767m.

    An alternative route will be via Wych Elm Lane, Bridge Road, B197 London Road, Gun Road and Stockens Green.

  6. that length of Thistle Lane, Stevenage from its junction with Preston Road north westwards to its junction with St Albans Highway, a distance of approximately 579m.

    An alternative route will be via Preston Road, Hitchin Road, School Lane and St Albans Highway.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made and shall come into force on 18 August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE SERVICE ROAD FRONTING NOS.3-101 LONDON ROAD, BALDOCK) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the service road fronting Nos.3–101 London Road, Baldock from its junction with Anchor Road north westwards to its junction with B197 London Road, a distance of approximately 181m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via the service road fronting Nos.3-101 London Road and B197 London Road.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing gas main is proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made and shall come into force on 18 August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK SITUATED ON THE SOUTH EAST SIDE OF A1155 FAIRLANDS WAY, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles from using the cycle track situated on the south east side of A1155 Fairlands Way, Stevenage from a point 25m south of its junction with Gresley Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 98m (“the Cycle Track”).

The Order is needed to dismount any site obstructions or replace the Cycle Track or near the Cycle Track.

If the Order is made and shall come into force on 18 August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Track.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE FOOTWAY SITUATED ON THE EAST SIDE OF B197 NORTH ROAD, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footway situated on the east side of B197 North Road, Stevenage from a point 168m north west of its junction with Trinity Drive north westwards for a distance of approximately 82m (“the Footway”).

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the west side of B197 North Road.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing utility pole is proposed to be executed near the Footway.

If the Order is made and shall come into force on 18 August 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footway.
