What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT
(EDGELEY ROAD, CHEADLE HEATH AND VARIOUS ROADS PLANNED HIGHWAYS MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which introduced a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Edgeley Road, Cheadle Heath - Morrisons to Churchley Road. Diversion via Stockport Road, Councillor Lane, Bird Hall Road, Bird Hall Lane, and vice versa, Manchester Road, Cheadle - From Mill Lane to Manchester/Stockport Boundary. Northbound diversion via Manchester Road, High Street, Gatley Road, A34 Kingsway and Wilmslow Road. Southbound diversion via Wilmslow Road, A34 Kingsway, Gatley Road, High Street and Manchester Road, Dumbarton Close, Reddish South - Full Extent. No Diversion. Access to Locals and Businesses Only, and St Ann’s Road North, Heald Green - From Brown Lane to Buttermere Road. Diversion via Brown Lane, Styal Road, Church Road, Gatley Road, Delamere Road, Foxland Road, Silverdale Road, St Ann’s Road North, and vice versa, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow for planned maintenance works to take place. It is estimated these works will last up to 3 weeks. This Order will come into operation on 26 August 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
