Wiltshire, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) New Mill (Part), Milton Lilbourne: for a distance of approximately 20m either side of the railway bridge to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out bridge inspection and associated works. Alternative route via New Mill (unaffected length) – B3087 – C199 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 11 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 for 1 day. B) Clanville (Part), Stanton St Quintin and Seagry: from its junction with C166 for a distance of approximately 147m in a south easterly direction to enable Esp Electricity Limited to carry out drilling works and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 09 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 06 October 2025. C) Marston Hill (Part), Marston Meysey: from its junction with A417 to its county boundary with Gloucestershire to enable Thames Water to carry out work to install a new service connection and other associated works. Alternative route via Fairford Road to South Leaze Cottage Meysey Hampton – A417 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 September 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
D) George Lane (Part), Marlborough: from outside its property known as No.16 George Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a westerly direction to enable Thames Water to carry out sewer repairs relating to collapsed pipework. Alternative route via George Lane (unaffected length) – Salisbury Road – London Road – New Road – High Street – Pewsey Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 18 August 2025 and the closure will be required until 29 August 2025. For further information please contact Thames Water on 07462 302929.
E) UC 395004 (Part), Seend: from its junction with Perrys Lane for a distance of approximately 100m in a south westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out replacement cabling and associated works. Alternative route via UC 396001 (unaffected length) – C226 – A361 – C20 – Pelch Lane and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 20 August 2025 and the closure will be required until 22 August 2025.
F) C180 (Part), Chippenham Without: from a point approximately 55m south of its property known as Allington House for a distance of approximately 56m in a south easterly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out new connection works and other associated works. Alternative route via C180 (unaffected length) – A420 – B4039 – Foliswick Lane – C180 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 20 August 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. For further information please contact Scottish and Southern Power Distribution on 0345 078 6741.
G) B4040 (Part), Malmesbury: from its junction with High Street to its junction with C68 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out core sampling works and other associated works. Alternative route via C68 (unaffected length) – B4014 – A429 – B4040 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 19 August 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. For further information please contact Wiltshire Council on 0300 456 0100.
H) Church Road (Part), Hilmarton: from its junction with Compton Road for a distance of approximately 120m in a north easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out permanent reinstatement work in the carriageway and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 19 August 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 for 2 days. I) Church Road (Part), Woodborough: from its junction with Woodborough Road for a distance of approximately 110m in a northerly direction.
J) Church Road (Part), Woodborough: from its junction with Chapel Lane for a distance of approximately 76m in a southerly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer relining works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 16 August 2025 and the closure will be required until 29 August 2025. The Orders will have a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes (where applicable) will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users:
Footpath 125 (Part), Purton: from its junction with Bridleway 146, Purton to its junction with Bridleway 151, Purton to enable renewal across crossing – crossing to be removed. The crossing will be reinstated during the core works and the crossing will be opened back to the public. It will then be removed again for the dates in September and then reopened. Alternative route via Bridleway 151, Purton – Restricted Byway 5, Purton – Bridleway 152, Purton – Bridleway 146, Purton and vice versa.
The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order will come into operation on 16 August 2025 and will be required as follows:
16 August 2025 between the hours of 23:00 and 09:30 for 1 night.
25 August 2025 between the hours of 22:00 and 09:30 until 31 August 2025.
04 September 2025 between the hours of 23:55 and 06:00 for 1 night.
06 September 2025 between the hours 23:00 and 09:30 for 1 night.
Access will be maintained where possible although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The Order will have a maximum duration of 6 months.
