Pangbourne, Temporary Road Closure Due To Bridge Inspection Works

WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL) INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING
(A329 SHOOTERS HILL, PANGBOURNE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025
The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Shooters Hill in Pangbourne between its junction of St James Close and its junction with Pangbourne Station.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via A329 Shooters Hill, A329 Reading Road, A329 Wallingford Road, A329 Road running through Moulsford, Village Street, A329 Reading Road, A4130 Nosworthy Way, A4074 Port Way, A4074 Between The White House and The Street, A4074 Between The Street and Icknield Road, A4074 Known as Red Lane, A4074 Unnamed single Carriageway, A4074 Between Deadman’s Lane and Reading Road, A4074 Reading Road, A4074 Chazey Heath, A4074 Upper Woodcote Road, A4074 Woodcote Road, A4074 St Peters Hill, A4074 Church Road, A4155 Bridge Street, A4155 Caversham Road, A329 Caversham Road, A329 Caversham Street Roundabout, A329 Chatham Street, A329 Bedford Road, A329 Oxford Road, A329 Reading Road/Knowlsey Road Roundabout, A329 Reading Road, A329 Reading Road/Nursery Gardens Roundabout, A329 Reading Road, A329 Purley Rise, A329 Reading Road, A329 The Square, A329 High Street, A329 Station Road, A329 Shooters Hill and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Network Rail to carry out a bridge inspection on the railway.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 7th September 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 7th and 8th September 2025, between the hours of 21:00–05:00.
Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected. Final details of the closure can be viewed on One.Network
