Public Path Diversion Order 2024
On 04 July 2025 Dorset Council confirmed the above-named order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 as unopposed and the Council has certified that work has been carried out to bring the site of the new highway mentioned in article 3 of the order into a fit condition for use by the public.
The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert footpath 11, Compton Abbas as shown on the order map as follows:
From the existing path:
The whole width of the footpath from ST 8952 1857 generally north west to ST 8917 1869 (No recorded width).
To the new path:
From ST 8952 1857 north east along the northern side of the southern field boundary to ST 8976 1869 then north west across the field to the east of the end of the runway to ST 8967 1883. Then generally south south west along the southern side of the northern field boundary to the unaffected part of footpath 11 at ST 8917 1869.
Width: 2.5m.
A copy of the order as confirmed and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. Copies are also available on our website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/row-orders.
The order comes into force on 11 July 2025 but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act, has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 14 August 2025, make an application to the High Court.

Temporary Traffic Management Order of Unnamed Lane, Sturminster Marshall
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 8 September 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 19 September 2025.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out bridge repair works.
The effect of this Order is as follows:
[i] To impose a temporary road closure on Unnamed Lane, Sturminster Marshall and White Mill Bridge as indicated by signage on site.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.
