Oxfordshire – Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Parking Restrictions

What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROADS – CHERWELL DISTRICT) (MAP BASED)

(PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND PERMITTED PARKING)

(VARIATION NO.*) ORDER 20

NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order – for road safety & traffic management reasons – is to introduce new ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ (Double Yellow Lines) parking restrictions in Bicester as follows:

1. Barry Avenue:

a. south side – extend the existing restriction westwards by an additional 41m, adjacent to Nos.1-11,

b. north side – to extend 13.3m either side of its junction with Graham Road.

2. Bucknell Road:

a. north side – from a point 4 metres south-east of the north-west boundary of No. 30 Bucknell Road, north-westwards for a distance of 137 metres (incl. removal of 11m of ‘No Waiting Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm’)

b. south side – from a point 16.5 metres northwest of its junction with Hudson Street, south-eastwards for a distance of 123 metres,

3. Ewart Close:

a. north side – extend the existing restriction south-westwards by an additional 9.5 metres,

b. south side – extend the existing restriction south-westwards by an additional 19.5 metres,

4. Graham Road:

a. north side – to extend 17.5m north-eastwards from its junction with Barry Avenue,

b. south side – to extend 21m north-eastwards from its junction with Barry Avenue,

5. Hudson Street:

a. north side – to extend 12m southwards from its junction with Bucknell Road,

b. south side – to extend 22m southwards from its junction with Bucknell Road,

6. Kennedy Road (both sides) – to extend for 84m westwards from its junction with Villiers Road,

7. Shakespeare Drive (west side) – to extend the existing restriction either side of its junction with Wansbeck Drive, for 5m north of the junction, and 5.4m south of the junction,

8. St Mary’s Close (both sides) – to extend for 10m southwards from its junction with Kennedy Road,

9. Villiers Road (west side) – to extend from a point 10m north of its junction with Kennedy Road, southwards to a point 14.5m south of this junction.

10. Wansbeck Drive

a. west side – to extend 15m either side of its junction with Wensum Crescent,

b. east side – to extend 14m either side of its junction with Welland Croft,

11. Welland Croft (both sides) – to extend 11.5m south-eastwards from its junction with Wansbeck Drive.

12. Wensum Crescent (both sides) – to extend 10m westwards from its junction with Wansbeck Drive.

Additionally, new Bus stop clearways (with associated ‘No Stopping except local buses’ restrictions) will be introduced at the following locations:

1. Bucknell Road (north side) approx. 15 metres north of the southern junction of Stoneburge Crescent, to extend northwards by 17m,

2. Shakespeare Drive (east side) approx. 55 metres north of its junction with Wansbeck Drive, to extend northwards by 13m

The Oxfordshire County Council (Various Roads – Cherwell District) (Map Based) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Permitted Parking) Order 2021 will be further amended as necessary, updating Map Tiles CT78, CU76, CU78, CV76 & CW77 in the process.

Objections to the proposals and other representations stating the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by 12 September 2025.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Kidlington, St Mary’s Church Footpath 265/19/10

Date of Order: 25 August 2025

Coming into force: 1 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of resurfacing works which is anticipated to be completed on 31/10/2025.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily that part of St Mary’s Church Footpath 265/19/10 running northwards from the east side of the church. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for Works. The alternative route will be signed to the west. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Ardley, Somerton Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 25 August 2025

Coming into force: 5 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of Gigaclear fibre cabling works which are anticipated to take until 18 September 2025 to complete. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of Somerton Road from outside Ardley House to Outside Quarry Cottages.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Church Road, Station Road, Fritwell Road, East Street, North Street, Ardley Road and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16160/RMF)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Tusmore, Tusmore Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 11 August 2025

Coming into force: 18 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of fibre cable installations which are anticipated to take until 29 August 2025 to complete. Working 08:00–18:00hrs.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Tusmore Road northwards from Ockley Brook towards Croughton (from Thriftwood House to outside Croughtons Bottom Farm). Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is Street heading West from A43 to Roundhill Farm, A43 through Tusmore, A43 from J A4100 roundabout to J B4031 roundabout NE, Buckingham Road Evenley, Buckingham Road Croughton, Portway Croughton and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15981/RMF)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Kidlington, Footpath 125-137 Wilsdon Way

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Coming into force: 25 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of electrical maintenance works on behalf of SSEN which is anticipated to be completed on 5 September 2025.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily part of the footpath in front of Nos. 97-109 and 125-137 Wilsdon Way, Kidlington. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for Works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of footpath. The alternative route will be signed locally and appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. (Ref: T15350/RMF)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Caulcott, South Street and Greenway

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 11 August 2025

Coming into force: 18 August 2025

This Order is being introduced because of fibre cabling works which are anticipated to be completed by 1 September 2025.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the whole length of South Street and Greenway. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Portway, B4030 and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16035/RMF)
