A38 Trunk Road - Temporary Restriction And Prohibition of Traffic For Resurfacing And Associated Maintenance Works

THE A38 TRUNK ROAD (ST BUDEAUX)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the A38 trunk road in the County of Devon to allow resurfacing and associated maintenance works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to take place commencing on or after 1 September 2025 and be completed by 27 September 2025.

The effect of the Order would be:

(a) to impose an overnight (20.00 to 06.00) mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit on the A38 westbound from Weston Mill Junction to the Tamar Bridge toll booths;

(b) to impose a mandatory 30 mph overnight (20.00 to 06.00) speed limit on the length of the A38 given at (a) above;

(c) to impose a mandatory 10 mph overnight (20.00 to 06.00) speed limit on the length of the A38 given at (a) above and eastbound from the Tamar Bridge toll booths to 572 metres east of the Tamar Bridge toll booths whilst convoy working is taking place

(d) to impose a 24 hr mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit from 7 September 2025 on the A38 westbound from Weston Mill Junction to St Budeaux Junction;

(e) to impose a 24 hr mandatory 30 miles per hour speed limit from 7 September on the A38 westbound from St Budeaux Junction to Tamar Bridge Roundabout and eastbound from the Tamar Bridge toll booths to 572 metres east of the Tamar Bridge toll booths;

(f) authorise the overnight (20.00 to 06.00) closure of the A38 westbound from 428 metres east of Tamar Bridge Roundabout to Tamar Bridge Roundabout and the westbound entry slip road at St Budeaux Junction

(g) authorise the operation of a contraflow on the A38 eastbound from the Tamar Bridge Toll Booths to a point 1060 metres west of St Budeaux Junction;

(h) authorise the overnight (20.00 to 06.00) closure of the laybys adjacent to the A38 between Tamar Bridge Roundabout and Weston Mill Junction;

(i) prohibit cyclists overnight (20.00 to 06.00) from the A38 between Tamar Bridge Roundabout and St Budeaux Junction.

During the closures, traffic would be diverted via junctions of the A38 and local roads.

The closures (which would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer or works vehicles) speed limits, contraflows, and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.

The Order would come into force on 30 August 2025 and have a maximum duration of 18 Months.
