What is happening?
THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF NORTH TYNESIDE
HIGHWAYS RESURFACING SCHEME – PHASE 1
TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on the below roads to allow resurfacing of the carriageway.
BACKWORTH AND HOLYSTONE
Killingworth Lane, from Killingworth Avenue for 40m northbound. Alternative route is available via Killingworth Avenue. Access to be maintained for residents on Killingworth Lane.
BATTLE HILL
Battle Hill Drive from Coast Road Interchange to Middle Engine Lane. Alternative routes are shown above but will also be indicated by on site signage.
Access to be given where possible. Alternative routes available via Battle Hill Drive, Middle Engine Land and the Coast Road.
CHIRTON AND PERCY MAIN
Heaton Terrace/Coast Road (Hollywell Road) from Juliet Avenue to Mowbray Road. Alternative routes available via Heaton Terrace, Falstaff Rd and Regent Terrace.
NEW YORK AND MURTON
The Silverlink, from Middle Engine Lane Roundabout to Kingfisher Way Roundabout. Kingfisher Way Roundabout to Osprey Drive Roundabout. Alternative routes available via The Silverlink and Middle Engine Lane.
NORTH SHIELDS
1. Victoria Crescent for the full length. Alternative routes available via Finchdale Close, Stormont Street and Collingwood View.
2. Spencer Street for the full length. Alternative routes available via Prudhoe Terrace, Borough Road and Stanley Street West.
3. William Street, from Borough Road for 30m to Northeast. Alternative routes available via Borough Road and Rudyerd Street.
4. Saville Street/Borough Road from Saville St/ Borough Rd North & South junction at traffic lights.
Alternative routes available via the A187 and Prudhoe Street.
SHIREMOOR
Buddle Terrace Lane at the rear of numbers 1-29 for the full length. No alternative route available. Access maintained for residents (pedestrianised front).
ST MARY’S
Longridge Drive from Monkseaton Drive to outside No.13. Alternative routes available via Monkseaton Drive, Cragside and Claremont Road
WEETSLADE
Thorntree Avenue for the full length. No alternative routes available. Access maintained for residents
The Order will come into force on 1 September last until 30 September
