North Shields, North Tyneside - Temporary Restriction Of Traffic Order For Phase 2 Construction Works

What is happening?

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF NORTH TYNESIDE
NORTH SHIELDS, NORTH TYNESIDE
TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on:

NORTH SHIELDS
1. Bedford Street from the junction of West Percy Street to the junction of Saville Street. An alternative route is available via Wellington Street West, Little Bedford Street.

2. Russell Street from the junction with Nile Street to the junction with Bedford Street. The temporary order is required to provide a temporary loading bay. This is part of the North Shields Phase 2 construction works, to assist with deliveries during the Bedford Street closure.

3. Wellington Street from the junction with Little Bedford Street to the junction with Bedford Street. 

The proposed temporary Order is required is required for footway and carriageway reconstruction. An alternate route is available via Little Bedford Street, Saville Street West.

The Order will come into force on 30 August 2025 lasting until 24 October 2025.
