Burton Road, Temporary 10mph Speed Limit Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (A6070 BURTON ROAD, BURTON IN KENDAL) (TEMPORARY 10 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 10 miles per hour along that section of the A6070 Burton Road, from its junction with Vicarage Lane, extending in a north easterly then north westerly direction for approx. 1km.
N.B. The 10 miles per hour speed restriction will operate where contractor’s operatives and plant are working on site. It will be operated on a convoy system with a lead vehicle controlling traffic speed to protect the workforce.
No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 1st September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 2 weeks and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
