Westmorland & Furness, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (U5334 BROOM LANE, UNDERBARROW, C5060 WINSTER, C5041 FIELD BROUGHTON, C5048 CROSTHWATITE AND U5036 STEPHENSON GROUND BRIDGE, NEAR BROUGHTON MILLS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along that section of the;
(i) U5334 Broom Lane, Underbarrow, from its junction with the C5059 Mountjoy Brow, extending in a south westerly direction for a distance of approx. 40m. Alternative Route: via C5059 Mountjoy Brow, U5330, B5284, U5327 Back Lane, C5061, C5048 and the unrestricted section of the U5334. Duration: From 1st September 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/15127)
(ii) U5036 Stephenson Ground Bridge near Broughton Mills, for a distance of approx. 25m either side of the centre line of the bridge. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U5036 U5037, and C5008. Duration: From 1st September 2025 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTROW/15126)
(iii) C5060 Winster, from its junction with the A5074, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 190m. Alternative Route: via the A5074, C5048 Totter Bank, C5061, and the unrestricted section of the C5060. Duration: From 8th September 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/15128)
(iv) C5041 Field Broughton, from its junction with the C5029, extending in a northerly direction for a distance of approx. 1.2km. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C5041, B5278, and A590. Duration: From 15th September 2025 for approx. 11 days (Ref: TTROW/15123)
(v) C5048 Crosthwaite, from its junction with Mill Lane, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 280m. Alternative Route: via the C5048 Totter Bank, A5074, and the unrestricted section of the C5048. Duration: From 15th September 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROW/15121)

The Order will come into operation on 1st September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
