Cumberland - Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL

AND U2174 GREAT BROUGHTON)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 1 September 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. A5086, Mockerkin – from 1 September 2025 for approx. 11 days (Ref: TTROC/15538)

From its junction with the U2211 to its junction with the C2054.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A5086, A595, Distington Bypass and the A66.

2. Richmond Road, Workington – from 15 September 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/15386)

From its junction with Everest Mount, extending in a westerly direction for approx 45m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Richmond Road, Windsor Road and Sarsfield Road.

3. U2174, Great Broughton – from 22 September 2025 for approx. 2 days (Ref: TTROC/15215)

From its junction with Coldgill Avenue, extending in a south easterly direction for its entire length

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
