Wellington Street - Cycle Lane Closure For Bridge Inspection Works

What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(WELLINGTON STREET, GATESHEAD - CYCLE LANE CLOSURE)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit cyclists from proceeding along Wellington Street, Gateshead, on the northern extents, at its junction with Hudson Street, in an easterly direction for 44 metres.

The Order is required to facilitate bridge inspection works.

The Order will come into force on 01 September 2025 at 23:00 hours.

The maximum duration of the Order will be 6 months; however, the works are expected to be completed by 02 September 2025 at 06:00 hours.

During the works all cyclists (except operatives associated with the works and emergency service operatives on duty) will be prohibited from proceeding along the above cycle lane until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs.
