Dartford, Temporary Road Closure Due To Resurfacing Works

A2 TRUNK ROAD – DARTFORD HEATH TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A2 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to prevent intrusion into works proposed to be executed on the Kent County Council network.

The effect of the Order is to authorise the overnight closure of the road leading from the coast-bound carriageway of the A2 at Dartford Heath Interchange (A2018).

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors working on behalf of Kent County Council undertake resurfacing works on the northbound carriageway of the A2018 (Old Bexley Lane).

It is expected that the work will last for approximately 1 week starting on or after Tuesday 26th August 2025. The overnight closures will take place between (maximum periods):

  • Mondays – Thursdays: 22:00 – 05:30

  • Fridays: 23:00 – 06:00

  • Saturdays: 22:00 – 06:00

  • Sundays: 22:30 – 05:30

The Order will come into force on 24th August 2025 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted coast-bound on the A2 to Darenth Interchange (M25 Junction 2), then London-bound on the A2 to Dartford Heath Interchange, southbound on Old Bexley Lane, eastbound on Oakfield Lane, northbound on Heath Lane (Upper), north-eastbound on Princes Road and southbound on Shepherd’s Lane.

The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
